Weekending 9th June

Monday 3rd June

Thanks to Bill Murray for today’s report.

Belton Woods vs Woolfox (A) Match Report
We played on the LAKES course. The LAKES course is well named – lakes are all over the place, with connecting ditches too. Above ground there are trees, serious trees, and hedges and boy was the rough. The holes were loooong. The greens were quick. This proved to be a very challenging course! Many balls were lost (Ian Dobson lost 8!) forever in the lakes and rough. On the plus side, the weather was perfect.

There was one incident of note. On his approach to the 9th green, John Adkins decided on a chip shot. As he swung his club, he found an easier target than the flag-hole, he put it down the jaws of a cavernous bin (reminiscent of his football days, perhaps). The bins are located with no movability. Lots of rules discussion to follow. Anyway, John is forgiven as, with Charlie Laverty’s help, they were the only pair to win for WOOLFOX.

Summer Knockout Singles

The Seniors Knockout match between Bill Murray and Steve Moss resulted in victory for Steve, 2 and 1. Bill took an early lead when Steve put his first ball in for a swim. However, as the game progressed, Bill managed to hit more bunkers than Steve, 5 to 2 and the lead was whittled away. Click here for the knockout table
